Controls

return to Help

Mastering the controls in Flux is crucial to success as a player.  The controls are designed to be very intuitive and the basic controls are easy enough for anyone who has experience with a mouse to sit down and play a few levels.

Navigating Menus

top

Moving the mouse over an interactive region of the screen will cause some animation to occur.  If you wish to perform that action, click once with the left mouse button.

Gameplay

top

During the game, if you wish to select a "chain" of pieces, left-click once on any piece in the desired chain.  If you wish to destroy the selected chain left-click on any highlighted piece.
If there are arrows present at the extremes of the puzzle window then there is a part of the puzzle off of the screen in that direction.  If you wish to scroll the window to see that part of the puzzle, hold down the right mouse button and move the mouse as if you were sliding a piece of paper (e.g. if you wish to see something off to the ride side of the screen, hold down the right mouse button and move the mouse to the left.)
Alternately, you may scroll the puzzle using the arrows on the keyboard. If you wish to quickly re-center the displayed area of the puzzle, simply press the spacebar.

Music Controls

top

At any point during gameplay you may change the music or stop it completely.  In the top-right of the screen there are several controls.

music_controls.gif (6598 bytes)

stop.gif (1498 bytes) This is the Stop button.  Clicking this button will cause the music to end immediately.  After clicking the Stop button, it will turn into the Play button.  Click this button at any time to start the music again.
stop.gif (1498 bytes) This is the Repeat button.  If this button is depressed, the current song will loop.  If it is not then the next song will be played.
stop.gif (1498 bytes) This is the Shuffle button.  If this button is depressed the order of the songs is completely random.   If it is not then the songs will always be played in the same order.
stop.gif (1498 bytes) The button just to the left of the Song Title is the Previous Song button.  Clicking this button will change the current song to the previous one in the playlist.
stop.gif (1498 bytes) The button on the other side of the Song Title is the Next Song button.  Clicking this button advances the current song to the next one in the playlist.

When you are in the middle of trying to solve one of the challenging puzzles of Flux, there's nothing more annoying than having to move your mouse away from the game to change the music. That's why we made it possible to control all of the music functions from your keyboard

Z - toggle stop/play
X - toggle repeat
C - toggle random
V - previous song
B - next song

top

F12 - instant quit (here comes the boss)
